Vision Engineering Swift Pro Cam Video Measuring System

The Swift PRO Cam comes with a precision measuring stage of 200 mm × 100 mm (X × Y) capacity, also there’s a variant with 150 × 100 mm stage. It supports measuring of 2D features on precision parts within that footprint.

The Swift PRO Cam stage can hold up to 10 kg maximum load. This allows reasonably heavy or large parts to be placed without damaging the stage or affecting accuracy.

Magnification options include quick-change lenses for 10×, 20×, 50×, and 100× magnification. These allow inspection of both routine and fine features.

• The stage accuracy (X, Y) is specified at ≈ 5 µm under standard operating conditions.
• The system includes factory-set Non-Linear Error Correction (NLEC) calibration to correct for stage errors across travel.
• The system’s video edge detection tools assist with reproducible measurements, especially for well-contrasted features.

A 3-axis variant is available: when equipped, the Z-axis travel (height adjustment) is approx. 98 mm. The standard (2-axis) version offers surface or profile measurement without vertical motion.

The Swift PRO Cam includes:

• LED quadrant surface (reflected) illumination with colour-corrected LEDs, to provide uniform lighting on top surfaces.
• Substage (transmitted or back) illumination with iris control, useful for profile / edge detection across transparent or translucent parts.
• Software-controlled adjustment of lighting to optimise contrast and reduce glare.

• Comes with Vision Engineering’s M-series metrology software, offering tools like video edge detection, simple profile & surface measurement, DXF import/export, reporting, etc.
• Stage calibration (NLEC) is done at factory, reducing need for frequent manual calibration.
• Minimal training required; the UI is designed for shop-floor or shift operators, as well as advanced users.

• As it’s a video‐only model, features that require high contrast (clear edges) may be less visible than with optical measurement methods; for some low contrast materials or very fine surface detail, optical systems may perform better.
• Higher magnification (100×) reduces the field of view; parts need to be positioned carefully and lighting adjusted to avoid distortion.
• The system is great for 2-D feature measurement; for full height or 3D features (e.g. deeper contours, steps), the 3-axis variant is required which adds to cost.
• Although the measuring stage is robust and includes NLEC calibration, environmental vibration, temperature drift, or poor lighting can still degrade accuracy unless the installation is well controlled.
