Hawker Richardson Newsletter June 2024
Welcome to the second edition of the Hawker Richardson newsletter for 2024. Time is flying! It’s hard to believe we are nearly halfway through the year. We are excited to share information about new product releases, articles on PCB manufacturing, assembly, and upcoming events.
We kicked off the quarter with our webinar on SMT Component Management. With the advent of Industry 4.0, there is a shift from manual or semi-automatic component management and warehousing to advanced automation, data exchange, and machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. The webinar addressed challenges in component management and provided solutions to streamline the process and automate SMT production. The webinar replay and all resources are on our website.
In the area of PCB soldering, we look at some of the best solutions available for soldering through-hole boards from SEHO Selective systems. This article explores why their technology could be revolutionary for manufacturers requiring wave and/or selective soldering solutions.
Elsewhere, we investigate the importance of clean PCBs in mitigating device malfunction and offer start-to-end PCB cleaning solutions. On the assembly front, leading technology company Redarc explains the benefits of the Kolver screwdriving system and how it provides greater flexibility in their manufacturing process.
Registrations are now open for Electronex 2024, at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on June 19 – 20. See us at stand B32 where we unveil the new generation of Mantis microscopes. This award-winning solution for PCB inspection and rework is a must-see. Also featured are Scienscope’s advanced component management systems, essential for SMT production line automation. We have a wealth of experience – over one hundred years and our personalised service includes helping you find the right product for your manufacturing and inspection requirements.
SEHO Selective Solutions for Through-Hole
While a lot of manufacturers are benefitting from board designs utilising surface mount technology (SMT), which allows them to implement the best automation that total line solutions can offer, some boards can only ever use Wave and Selective technologies. This article looks at some of the best solutions on the market for Soldering Through-hole boards from SEHO Selective systems and why some of the technology they’ve employed could be a game changer for manufacturers requiring Wave and / or Selective solutions.
SMT Component Management Webinar
Earlier this year we hosted a webinar for CEMs, OEMs and electronic manufacturers facing challenges with SMT component handling and storage.
Get our experts’ insight on products and how Industry 4.0 is moving towards full automation and find out how to bring structure to component management and increase efficiency in the PCB assembly line.
We have created a page for you to download some of the content from the webinar including the main presentation, videos, and any Q&As that were posted during the webinar.

Nathan Ellis, manufacturing engineer at Redarc, explains the benefits of the Kolver torque controller in their manufacturing process.
Start-to-end PCB Cleaning Solutions
Electronic devices that consumers use every day depend on printed circuit boards (PCBs). We expect the electronics in our cars, homes, industry, and personal lives to be reliable. In the medical and aerospace industries diagnostic or instrument failure can be catastrophic. Developing electronic products is a complex process from concept to design to manufacture, and the PCB plays a vital role in making the product functional.
