The impressive Yamaha YSi-V is a hybrid, automated, optical inspection (AOI) system offering high-speed, high-resolution image processing and image capture technology.
In one single unit, the Yamaha YSi-V can perform high-speed, high-resolution 2D inspection, height and tilt angle 3D inspection and diagonal angle image inspection via a 4-direction angled camera.
To achieve higher levels of operating speed, the Yamaha YSi-V features a 12 megapixel high-resolution camera, high-speed image processing technology, 3D inspection function, (that checks component height and tilt angle simultaneously), and a 4-direction angled camera employing exclusive image capture technology.
The YSi-V offers more than twice the inspection capacity/performance of the YSi-12 and introduces new features including full-HD LCD touch panel, “programming navigation” and new character recognition algorithms to improve operability.
Available with both 2D & optional 3D capability, with either 5 MP camera or as a high-end type with a 12 MP camera.
The 4V vision system enables angular inspection from four directions (45°, 135°, 225°, 315°). The Ysi V utilises 5 different inspection methods – laser, shape, colour, infrared & brightness, providing flexible and reliable imaging and inspection results.
The 3D imaging option reliably detects floating components that a 2D inspection system can miss. Detection is also improved where colour tones between board and components are similar or when there is interference between silk-screen and pattern. YSi-V 3D inspection can also detect the slope gradient and direction, and make pass/fail contour judgements.

The YSi-V is a hybrid AOI unit that supports high-speed, high-resolution 2D inspection, optional 3D inspection (checking component height and tilt angle), and a 4-direction angled camera (45°, 135°, 225°, 315°) for diagonal/oblique views.
It handles PCBs from 50 × 50 mm (minimum) up to 610 × 560 mm in single-lane configuration. There’s also the option for support of boards up to 750 mm in length.
The YSi-V comes in versions with 12-megapixel or 5-megapixel cameras. Optical resolutions of 12 µm or 7 µm are selectable. These higher resolutions are especially helpful for small-component & fine-pitch work.
It can detect component misplacement, floating components, tilt & height misalignments via 3D, colour / brightness / shape discrepancies, solder defects after hardening, and issues that might be invisible in purely 2D systems. The 4-direction angled camera helps where view from the top isn’t enough.
Power is 3-phase AC, input options 200-240 V or higher (200/208/220/230/240/400/416 V ±10 %), running at 50/60 Hz. It also requires clean, dry air at a source pressure of roughly 0.4-0.45 MPa or higher.
The YSi-V external dimensions are about 1,252 × 1,497 × 1,550 mm (L × W × H). The weight is approximately 1,300 kg.
It includes features like a full-HD LCD touch panel, programming navigation, new character recognition algorithms, and selectable inspection resolution. The 4-direction angular camera reduces tac-loss by inspecting from multiple angles in one pass.
It is especially suited to high-mix / fine-pitch SMT production where both 2D and 3D inspection are needed, and where components have reflective or shiny surfaces or there’s a need to detect floating or tilted components. It also helps manufacturers who want to minimise rework and defect rates via more comprehensive AOI.
