Yamaha has added an automated print-parameter ācoāpilotā to YSUP that helps lines get stable solder paste printing on the first run of every new PCB, with less trial-and-error and dependence on the resident printing process expert.
New software features
- Print Param Decision Assist: Automatically reads the PCB board file on program load and calculates optimal print settings, including system pressure, print speed, squeegee angle and cleaning frequency
- Builtāin troubleshooting: Reviews existing settings and flags issues, effectively acting as a resident printing expert that doubleāchecks recipes before production.
- Dataādriven setup: Takes into account board dimensions, component types, solder paste type, stencil thickness and critical aperture sizes when generating recommended parameters.
- Operatorāfriendly GUI: Simple graphical interface lets operators confirm and fineātune suggestions rather than building every setup from scratch.
- Integration in YSUP-PG: The tool is delivered within the latest YSUP-PG programming environment as part of Yamahaās YSUP intelligent factory software suite.
- Broader YSUP enhancements: Complements recent Visual Data Editor extensions and AutoTeach component placement functions that speed changeovers and reduce setup errors.
What it means for PCB production facilities
- Faster NPI ramp-up: Automatic parameter calculation cuts the time from CAD data to a stable print process, helping lines bring new products into volume production more quickly and with fewer test runs.
- Higher firstāpass yield: By optimising squeegee, pressure and cleaning based on the actual design and materials, factories can reduce printārelated defects that typically show up at SPI or AOI, boosting endāofāline yield.
- Less reliance on scarce experts: Embedded process knowāhow gives less experienced operators the confidence and guidance usually provided by senior process engineers, which is especially valuable on offāshifts or at multiāline sites.
- More consistent quality across lines: Standardised, softwareāguided print recipes reduce variability between operators, shifts and factories, making it easier to maintain corporate quality targets and pass customer audits.
- Smoother changeovers and higher utilisation: Together with Visual Data Editor and AutoTeach, the extended YSUP toolkit shortens setup and tuning time, freeing machines to spend more time printing and less time waiting for engineering support.ā
- Futureāready factory integration: Because YSUP already covers programming, line and factory scheduling, monitoring, traceability and links to enterprise planning tools, these new print features can plug directly into existing Yamaha-based smart factory workflows.
By combining hardware innovation with software-driven enhancements, manufacturers can achieve high productivity and quality at lower costs, supporting the continued growth of smart electronics markets.
