SMS Inspect is a real-time dashboard that monitors your production line/s performance.
Built for management and production process, Linechart Dashboard is a smart analytics tool that allows you to monitor all your production lines in real time. The system is designed to work with any machine that can produce performance and status data comprising of pick and place machines, AOI, SPI, stencil printers and reflow ovens.
How it works
The SMS information server automatically collects and converts data from all of your machines displaying the data as gauges, charts, text and pictures. All gauges, charts, text and pictures are connected to specific data sources. You can control what is displayed to your dashboard.
The interface is run entirely from within your web browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc). All you need to do is supply the address of the server, access to the data is obtained through you network system, intranet or internet using HTML.
The system is 100% programmable from your web browser. You can use our canned interfaces (layouts) or design you own from scratch.
How SM Inspect work: A graphical tool used to inspect faults found during manual inspection. A picture of the inspection PCB is drawn allowing the user to select an inspection fault and repair action for each reference on the PCB. All data collected is saved to an XML database system for future reference.
The placement and part information is obtained from the following sources:
• SMS Placement file
• Machine Placement file
• CAD file
The placement data can further be drawn over data from the following sources:
• Scanned PCB Image
There are 2 operational modes:
• Inspection Mode. Faults found are recorded and saved by PCB name or Unique ID.
• Repair Mode. Faults found in inspection are repaired, PCB’s are identified by Unique ID. smInspect can be run with both modes selected.

Main Interface:
This shows the main entry screen. The system is designed for a touch screen application or by using standard mouse selection. Full touch screen functionality is provided. Large buttons and tap options allow the system to operate in an environment where a keyboard and mouse would be difficult.
Inspection mode:
A picture of the PCB is generated from the SMT Placement machine file, or SMT Job file.
The user selects the part that the fault is found on and then records the fault found.
A No Faults button is provided when the PCB has no faults to record.
When the inspection is finished “Save PCB Results” is selected.
Repair Mode:
A previously inspected PCB unique ID is scanned in.
smInspect will immediately make sure the correct SMT Program is loaded. Previously inspected parts are colored blue.
Select these parts and click the repeat category. The repaired part will now be colored green.
PCB Inspection Window: From the inspection has window you are able to record new data and view summary results.
When the PCB is fully inspected the results are saved for the PCB.
As PCB’s pass through smInspect the system keeps a running total of boards inspected, components used defects found and other performance yield data.
If there are no faults then select the no faults button and then Save PCB. This saves the good board information so we can chart yield in Linechart.
View Collected Data: Fault data can be displayed using the SMS Linechart Viewer that comes with smInspect. Linechart Viewer is fully functional it is the same system used for AOI and SMT machine performance.
Chart type available for smInspect include “Component Defects” and “First Pass Yield” with display options DPMO, percentage and count.
The data has full drill down functionality, so you can see what the overall quality is, but also be able to drill all the way down to specific references.
The data can be displayed as a chart or displayed as an exportable report.
The reports can be viewed and saved as Text or CSV and viewed directly for example in Excel.
This product is available to view in our virtual demo.

SMS Inspect is a real-time dashboard system that monitors the performance of your production line, aggregating data from machines such as pick & place, AOI, SPI, stencil printers, and reflow ovens.
It can work with any machine capable of outputting performance & status data from pick & place machines, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), Solder Paste Inspection (SPI), stencil printers, and reflow ovens.
Data is collected automatically by the SMS information server, converted, and displayed as gauges, charts, text, and images on dashboards. Users can customise what data is shown.
Yes — the interface is entirely web-browser based (works with Chrome, Edge, etc.), so dashboards can be accessed locally through intranet or remotely via internet depending on setup.
It has two main operational modes: Inspection Mode, where defects on PCBs are identified & logged; and Repair Mode, where inspected fault items are repaired and tracked by unique PCB IDs.
SMS Inspect tracks component defects, first-pass yield, and other statistics. It allows drill-down by specific references on the PCB to identify which parts are causing yield drops. It can export this data as XML, CSV, or text reports.
Because all inspection and repair data is saved (by PCB name or unique ID), you can trace recurring faults, analyse defect trends over time, and improve processes (e.g. by identifying weak parts of the soldering or component placement steps).
The dashboard has large buttons and tap options, intended for usability in environments where a keyboard or mouse may be difficult (e.g., cleanrooms, high traffic floor). It supports PCB image overlays and selectable parts for fault-logging.
