Hawker Richardson Newsletter December 2024
Hello and welcome to the final edition of the Hawker Richardson newsletter for 2024! It’s incredible to think we’re already wrapping up another year — but here we are, ready to reflect and look ahead to what’s next.
In this issue, we explore the growing importance of thermal profiling in PCB assembly, particularly as the industry transitions to lead-free solder paste and embraces smaller components. Yamaha also released the new YRi-V HS AOI, featuring advanced laser profiling for accurately imaging components with highly reflective surfaces. Additionally, PVA launched PathMaster X, the next-generation programming software designed for its popular conformal coating platforms.
Elsewhere, we investigate the future of assembly with metal clinching and spotlight our premium assembly and manufacturing solutions. At Hawker Richardson, we’re proud to bring the world’s finest brands to Australasia – so take a closer look and discover the difference!
We hope you’ve enjoyed our quarterly newsletters. We’ll be back in 2025 with more industry news and product releases but for now, have a lovely rest of the year! See you soon.
Yamaha's New AOI: YRi-V HS
Yamaha Robotics Europe has launched the YRi-V HS optical inspection (AOI) system, featuring faster performance, high-resolution imaging, and improved accuracy for inspecting surface-mounted LEDs. This advanced system debuted at Electronica 2024 in Munich, Germany.
Case Study: GPC Electronics
Hawker Richardson has been working with GPC Electronics for decades and with YSM20R mounters from Yamaha have completed the fourth production line in the facility in NSW. As a contractor, GPC Electronics requires both the capability and reliability the Yamaha mounters offer, as well as the flexibility to integrate with other branded machines.
Industrial Tooling Solutions
Hawker Richardson is proud to represent the world’s finest brands including Cleco, Kolver and Weber. Whether you are looking for Bowl Feeders, Electric Assembly Tools, or Indexers, we have a range of solutions for assembly and manufacturing in Australasia.
The Future of Assembly: Metal Clinching
Metal clinching may appear to be a recent innovation, but manufacturers and assemblers have relied on it for over 30 to 40 years. Its early adopters include the automotive, appliance, electronics, aerospace, construction, and furniture industries. Advances in tooling and technology, have unlocked significant advantages over traditional metal fastening methods like welding and riveting.
Thermal Profiling: Optimising Soldering Operations
Thermal profiling is the unsung hero in electronics manufacturing, ensuring precision and reliability in every solder joint. Temperature control throughout the soldering process safeguards against common issues like solder joint voids and damage to delicate heat-sensitive micro components. This is critical as the industry shifts towards Pb-free solder paste, which demands higher melting points and brings new challenges to the table.
PathMaster X Programming Software
PVA, a global leader in PCB conformal coating machinery, unveils PathMaster X, the next-generation programming software for its widely used Direct Series Delta 6 and Delta 8 platforms. Known for their precision and repeatability, these automated systems are essential to ensure high-quality electronics manufacturing.
