Vision Engineering Camβ Handheld Digital Magnifier

The Camβ provides 4×, 8×, 16×, and 20× magnification. It includes a high-resolution colour display (4.3-inch, 1280×720) so that even at 20× the image remains sharp.

It features 4 built-in LEDs optimised for magnified imaging. Lighting can be cycled through four brightness settings (100%, 66%, 33%, 0%) and four viewing modes (full colour, black & white, inverted black & white, grey scale), to help manage challenging lighting/reflection scenarios.

Yes. It can capture still images (JPEG, at 1280×720 resolution) and has video-out via mini-HDMI. Internally it holds up to 20,000 images, with ~ 4 GB of internal memory for storage.

Yes. It includes a fixed 1 mm grid (two grid lines) for dimensioning, plus virtual calliper display and movable filar lines for more precise measurement. You can measure in either mm or inches.

The Camβ offers:

• Mini-USB for charging and image download.
• Mini-HDMI (TV-out) and AV to show the live view on an external monitor.

Battery gives approximately 6 hours of continuous operation. It is lightweight (≈ 205 g) and dimensions are ~ 283 mm × 88 mm × 22 mm, making it highly portable and usable for field or roaming inspection tasks.

Because it’s a dedicated digital magnifier with internal storage, controllable lighting, and does not rely on a phone or general-use camera, it can often be allowed where mobile phones or regular cameras are prohibited. It’s ideal for environments needing secure, traceable inspection.

• You’ll need to ensure you have a workflow for downloading, archiving, and linking the images captured to your inspection / defect tracking system.
• The display resolution is good, but for extremely fine features (below what 20× allows), you may still need a microscope or higher magnification imaging.
• Lighting adjustment will be necessary for reflective or curved surfaces; reflections might still be an issue.
• Considering battery recharging or spare units is sensible if heavy use over multiple shifts is expected.
