Aqueous Technologies Trident LDO Low Discharge Machine

The Trident LDO is built to remove both polar and non-polar contaminants, including a wide range of fluxes. It supports all flux types and accommodates different alloys to ensure high cleanliness of PCB assemblies.

“Low-discharge” refers to minimal release of rinse / waste fluids. The machine uses a closed-loop wash solution with a filtered discharge rinse system, which reduces water usage, lowers environmental permitting demands, and cuts operational costs.

It features 20 stainless-steel nozzles placed asymmetrically at a 15° angle, plus the option of 1 rack (20 nozzles) or 2 racks (40 nozzles) for greater throughput. An oscillating board rack is used for shadow mitigation so under-component areas are better cleaned.

The Trident LDO includes built-in cleanliness monitoring technology, automatic chemical dosing/mixing (HydroBlend automatic dosing from ~3.2 % to 26.8 % concentrations), and advanced SPC data collection with an SQL database. Digital and analogue level gauges on chemical storage tanks ensure accurate process control.

The chassis is built on a welded steel tube frame with steel panels, finished with a baked powder-coat hammer-tone finish. Plumbing is stainless steel. The dimensions are approximately 42.25″ depth × 44″ width × 70″ height, and weight is ~791 lbs.

Chemical dosing uses the HydroBlend automatic dosing & mixing system, which can deliver flux/cleaning chemical concentrations in the range of about 3.2% to 26.8%. This gives flexibility for light vs heavy contamination and can be adjusted via recipe settings.

The machine uses a focus wash spray technology and an oscillating board rack to move assemblies during washing, which helps expose component undersides and reduce “shadow” zones where spray doesn’t reach well.

• Although “low-discharge”, it still requires space, plumbing, and facility readiness to manage rinse overflow / filtered discharge rinse.
• The chemical dosing system requires consistent maintenance and may incur costs for consumables (chemicals, filters).
• For extremely large boards or highly complex fixtures / heavy components, cleaning performance may require optimised rack configurations.
• Initial capital cost and footprint (machine is fairly large and heavy) need to be justified vs throughput, yield improvements, and environmental compliance savings.
